The US Government Developed a Program to Help Veterans

So that veterans can reintegrate into the labor market, the US government created a program to hire as state suppliers, those companies whose owners have completed military service. The same firms increased from 2,900 in 2010 to over 7,400 in 2015 and the percentage of companies that received a negative response decreased to 66% in four years.

According to the study, "the rate of suicides among veterans of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is 50% higher than the rest of the population", which determines that 22 soldiers per day take their own lives.
It happens because when they return to their homes, then to perform military service, many suffer post traumatic syndrome and face economic and social difficulties, such as unemployment or homelessness.
In order to help those who are in this situation, the Department of Veterans Affairs US (VA) has started a program of "hiring preferences for companies of disabled war veterans or veterans" who want to be suppliers of the Federal Government.
The US Watchdog, (GAO) said that in relation to its 2013 report, the agency "made significant improvements in its verification process and communication" with those who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
So much so, that the program grew from "2,900 verified signatures in 2010 to over 7,400 in 2015".
The government plans to allocate "$616 million in 2006" to hire Veterans who own Small Business (VOSBs) to "four billion dollars in 2014". The amount of 2006, 356 million Small Business Veterans with Disabilities (SDVOSB), was recorded, whereas last year the amount increased to 3.6 billion.
The actions of "improving" the Department of Veterans Affairs "reduced the average application processing times by more than 50%", ie, 85 days in 2012 to 41 in 2015.
To improve the quality of its management, the VA launched an internal audit process. In September of this year the agency "had met 96%", (364 of 379 recommendations).
In addition, the Agency conducted visits after verification of 606 companies in fiscal year 2015 field "to ensure ongoing compliance with program regulations."
Consequently, "the percentage of companies that received negative decreased from 66% in 2012 to 5% in 2015".
Against this backdrop, the US Audit "made no recommendation" in this report.
