Located in the Buenos Aires’ district of Ituzaingó, the home is divided into two homes, the Governor Martín Rodríguez and Viamonte. They both depend on the Secretariat for Aging of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Social Development and a report by the Auditor General of the City of Buenos Aires (AGCBA, for its acronym in Spanish) exhibits weaknesses and irregularities in the infrastructure, information of patients, and staff arrangements.

In the files of the Martín Rodríguez Home, it was found that "in 43% of cases there was no evidence that psychological studies had been performed, in 38% of cases mental studies hasn’t been carried out and in 30%, dental checkups". In 100% of the folders there is missing paperwork referring to relapses and in 24% of them it is not specified if they have Health Care.

In the Governor Viamonte, "95% of files there isn’t any commitment letter (an elementary requirement of the resident and a family member) and in 63% there was no record of a mental health certificate."

To these observations, we must add the "lack of an interdisciplinary team with emergency shifts", as is required by the regulations. The audit also explains that they should "review the number of professionals in nutrition, nursing, and doctors on call, psychologists and psychiatrists."

When it comes to the food, the AGCBA said that they are "not satisfied with the planned menu of soft diet" and "there is no standardization of the portions, which shows that not all seniors receive the same nutritional value." 26% of staff "had no health book at the time of the audit."

The Facilities

In the hallways the Viamonte Home "the ceiling is damaged and there are leaks in the roof." The showers and bathrooms "lack plumbing, electrical installations are shabby, toilets, and sinks leak, there are water stains and peelings from the walls and ceilings."

The state of the building in the Rodríguez Marín home is not better, "in the emergency area due to the wet spots plaster falls from the walls and paint peels." The walls and ceiling of the hall face the same 'luck'. The roof of the outer gallery, which connects two pavilions "have loose tiles."

Numbers

About the Annual Procurement Plan and Hiring the AGCBA detected the existence of "deficiencies in internal control" from "the complex information provided by their computer support service that does not match their paperwork." In the table below you can see examples where the difference is of $ 436 thousand.

R.I.P

One of the problems that the home has is the burial of residents that passed away. The watchdog noted that "it is the home that takes care of the financial aspects" because on one side "they cannot use the money that the deceased left in the safe" and on the other because "PAMI only covers part of the burial costs", but that money is given to the family of the deceased, and not the home.
